    Hi all,

I use Private Internet Access (PIA) VPN and over the past couple of days, I get a ‘404 not found’ when trying to access the site when VPN is enabled.

I turn VPN off and can get to the askwoody pages I want.

PIA has not been update recently.

    Win10 X64 Ver 10.0.19042 Build 19042

Any suggestions on how to eliminate this problem while continuing to have VPN enabled?

    Cheers,
    Steve

Determine what your IP address is when you are on VPN and email me at sb@askwoody.com and I’ll put in a whitelist.  The wordfence firewall is sensitive about vpn addresses and if it’s been deemed potentially iffy in any way, it (unfortunately) blocks you.

IVPN, too and AirVPN, sometimes, depends on what I’m not sure.

Whitelisting a VPN IP address likely won’t work for long; they change often because they’re ya’ know VPN’s?  Windows has a built in setting for IP randomization similar to what many VPN’s offer.  As someone who was a site admin for years, chasing IP’s is a never ending quest.

This site has a number of access issues.  I’ve tried to sign up many times, VPN off, my user name exists, I can’t set a password and don’t receive emails with reset links.  Don’t have such issues on other sites, even much smaller enthusiast sites, smallnetbuilder, e.g., except when WordPress or Cloudflare are involved.

(Please, no VPN=bad actors, it’s your browser settings, AV’s blocking Woody, no problems here, etc.)

I’d think more Plus members would be a good thing 🙂

I’ve found that if the original password is too short (not secure enough), it won’t send a reset link.  I’ve looked for the setting that is causing this bug and I can’t find it.  If you need a reset and it’s not sending, please reach out to me at sb@askwoody.com.
