We’ve just sent out the first AskWoody Plus Newsletter to Plus Members. For a limited time (which is to say, until we get the hooks built into this web site), it’s free to everybody.

AskWoody PlusJanuary 14, 2019 at 10:10 am #310255Thanks for the hard work Woody et al. It’s nice to see the newsletter with all the familiar people posting articles again. 🙂
Hopefully the problem of my 2 user names and passwords will be solved between WS & AW as you move forward and merge completely.
Don't take yourself so seriously, no one else does 🙂

GuestJanuary 14, 2019 at 10:59 am #310309Sorry to be a little dense, but do I understand Tracey Capen correctly:
AskWoody.com will still be this site and separate from AskWoody Plus Membership newsletter which will be delivered via email?
AskWoody.com will still allow anyone to view and post Anonymously or (preferred) via Registration to this site?
AskWoody Plus Membership requires a separate signup (and donation), but Registration will also be good for AskWoody.com?
Further question for those who may not have the time or want to devote the time to the Newsletter, can a donation still be given to support AskWoody.com?

AskWoody LoungerJanuary 14, 2019 at 2:37 pm #310608Woody and your faithful collaborators, I’m liking the merged site more and more, but I cannot conceive of the amount of hard work that it represents. A heartfelt thank you to you, Woody, and many others.
I liked that “anonymous” did not post on WSL, and also liked that posters were encouraged to say where they were from. I’m proud to announce that I am from Edinburgh. Others whom I enjoy reading are from (to quote from recent WSL threads, and in no particular order as I collect them) Oxfordshire UK; South Glos, UK; Las Vegas, NV; Olympia, WA; Earth (OK, Paul T!); Calgary, AB; St Louis, MO; PA, USA (Maudibe!); Manning, SC; Yarra Glen, VIC; Paducah, KY; Marietta, GA; Canberra, ACT; Burnaby, BC; Melbourne, VIC; Indy; “Old Hampshire”; Praha; Surrey, UK; Bradford, UK; Austin metro area, TX; Sun Prairie, WI; USA (OK, mrjimphelps!); Cyprus; La Jolla, CA; Newcazzle, UK; Polk County, FL; Cardiff, UK; Pittsford, NY; Fort McMurray, AB; Mojave Desert, CA; Durham, UK; and “a cultural area in S W England”.
I trust that you will recognise yourselves, and hope that I have not overlooked anyone important. What is interesting is that the names of the posters from the above places on WSL appear so often as the final name in the thread, i.e. the poster who implicitly “solved” the thread, even if the OP did not mark it thus.
Without success, I hoped to convince those who ran WSL that posters could be persuaded to “de-anonymise” their locations, but I do not think that I got past “persuaded”.

AskWoody PlusJanuary 14, 2019 at 2:54 pm #310616Yay!
The only downside: I had to create a new local folder in my desktop email client so I can save the newsletters for future reference. Yes, I know, life is tough.. 😉
