    Hello all,

I have looked and looked and looked again but I’m stuck with this problem hairout
    The following is happening:
We have a user who is sending mail to people of a distributionlist. The mail contains a Word 97 attrachment
When the receivers get this message the following situations are true:
    1) Some people receive the message and the attachment
    2) Some people receive the message and no attachment
    3) Some people recieve the message and the attachment, but the attachment is in HTML format and to readalble
    4) Some people recieve the message and the attachment, but the attachment is called part1.2 and can not be opened
    5) Some people receive the message and in the message is only the name of the attachment, not the file
    6) and there are more combinations……

And if you think this is all…… no. When sending the same message and attachment to the persons of the list one by one (so not using the distributionlist) it will always recieve correct….

Kick me if you no what is happening here
Thanks in advance to your remarks and hopefully a sollution.

all these messages are from one DL, all receiving the same message?

what mail server are you using?
what mail server are the others using?
      does everyone using outlook?

for best results always use plain text format. make sure all users in the DL are set for plain text (uncheck always use RTF)

My guesses, based on past experience:
      #1 are outlook users
      #2 are using outlook express
#4 are using unix servers or macs
#5 are on your server or their server removes the attachment
#3- OL97 doesn’t do HTML, so either your server or their server is convering it to html.

Sorry to butt in, but why does that not apply if the messages are sent individually and not as part of a distribution list?

          what doesn’t apply?
when sent to a DL, the message format may be forced into RTF, depending on the properties of the DL. when sent individually, there is less problems with forced format changes, especially due to corrupt nickname files.
