    Is there a way to add an attachment (it has to be an external file, not a report or access object) to an email using the docmd.sendobject or a different command w/o having to run something outside Access?

      DoCmd.SendObject can only attach database objects, not external files.

      If you use Outlook, you can create an e-mail, attach any file you like, and send it using Automation. See post 133130 for a code example.
