Hey there, i am creating an incident report databse for a school, consiting of 2 tables, pupils and incidents, in the incidents table you can select the pupil ID that has been involved in the incdent via a combobox (on userform), my problem is that the list is ordered by the pupil ID and i need to to be roedered by Surname, Surname and Forename are two seperate fields so i cannot use Surname as the key, i am only a novice at Access so any solution would be helpful, many thanks

      Danny,
Right click on your combo box, and then go to Data: Row Source, and click on the little |…| In the query design view, you can specify your sort, if your columns aren’t in the order that you want your sort to happen, add them to the query design view in the order you want them to sort, uncheck the box, and then sort ascending: In the example, notice Home Phone is on there twice. Hopefully that illustrates the instructions. smile
