I am the sole user of a Windows 7 computer and the only Administrator. I have full control and permissions to Modify, Read & Execute, Read, and Write.
That having been said, I’m aware that there are times when right-clicking the command “Run as Administrator” is necessary to launch an existing program. While I cannot recall having to do it, I may have been required to use this command to install specific applications as well.
Lately, I’ve experienced failed attempts to install a few applications that present me with an error message telling me that the installation cannot finish because “the installer has insufficient privileges” to access the Windows 7 Start Menu or the ProgramData directory. Using the “Run as Administrator” command makes no difference.
I’ve attached a recent error message. I would appreciate insight about why this happens and what I need to do to prevent it. TIA for your responses.
