Automatic slide transition (2002/XP)

I have several Exit animations set for the first slide. All the animations are timed to execute after each other so I need execute only 1 click to start the entire ‘Exit’ process. What I need now is to know how to have the slide automagically move to the next slide after the last exit animation is done.

I believe you need to combine your animations with slide transistions. Unfortunately I don’t seem to be able to make it work on the presentation I have at hand, but trying simple exit animations in combination with transitions and see what you get.

You’re not combining them. It’s really two different functions. Go to Slide Show>SlideTransition… In the Transition dialog, keep it set to no transition ( you can add an effect here if you want, but there’s probably enough animation going on with your animated objects and good design would say not to make it too busy). Then under “Advance” in the lower left side of the dialog, check the “Automatically after” and set in minutes and/or seconds any delay you want. Time how long it takes for your animations to run and start there. You may need to adjust this a bit. You can keep the “on mouse click” checked or not. If you keep it checked it will change either after the specified delay or upon a mouse click.

One thing about the delay that has always bugged me, 1 second in PowerPoint is not necessarily 1 second in real world time. It really depends on your processor, memory and other variables. This is true of both animation and transition settings. Fine tune every animated show to the computer you are using. If you move it to a different computer, you may need to retime. If you build it on a super hot fast machine that you bought yesterday, it won’t run right on a three year old formerly super hot and fast machine unless you reset the timings according to what the computer does.
