Can I create a COM object that can access the messages contained in an Outlook mail folder on a remote machine? If yes, how?

Taibe, that’s a big question, kind of like “how do I rebuild my automobile transmission?”! (Which I need to do right now.) You may want to look at Sue Mosher’s book Microsoft Outlook Programming, Digital Press, 2003, espec. Chapter 12. And post the question in VB/VBA Forum. It’s way beyond my skill.

Thanks, John. I’ll post it to the VB/VBA forum. I’m actually not looking for a step-by-step, how-to answer. I just would like to know if such a thing is possible, and if so, can someone point me in the right direction. Thanks for your help, though.

In broad terms, you’ll first need to Resolve the remote mailbox recipient name from Outlook.Recipient, and then use a MAPI Folder Object with the NameSpace.GetSharedDefaultFolder(resolved recipient , olFolderInbox) Method. There’s some code for .Resolve at Slipstick, and in Sue Mosher’s book which I referred you to.

See 260359 in the VBA Board. VBA is a better place for this thread.
