• Backing up and restoring an iPod?

I have an iPod that I want to backup and then simply start over. I have copied all folders (even the hidden ones) to an external hard drive – using Windows Explorer. Then, using iTunes or another iPod manager, I want to wipe all of the songs (and images) off of it. The device does not hold other data such as calendar or contacts.

I plan to use the iPod for a few weeks, then I want to restore it to its original state. When it comes time to do that, can I simply delete all the folders off of the iPod and copy all of the stored folders back on to it?

That sounds logical to me, but I may be thinking in too simple terms! Is that going to be OK?? Thanks.

Well, I got no responses – so I went ahead and wiped the iPod anyways! I had iTunes recreate the system and I am now using the iPod in its ‘temporary’ mode. I am going on vacation like this. When I get back, I will try to re-establish the previous iPod I had before I left. One never knows, but I suspect I’ll be fine. I’ll let you know – in case someone in the future has the same issue!
