Sorry if this is in the wrong place but I could not find one it fitted.
My last web site counter as closed down.
I am looking for a good free web site counter, any ideas.

Thanks Jscher2000
I have looked at this counter’s Terms and Conditions which state.
” 17.1 Some of the Services are supported by advertising revenue and may display advertisements and promotions. These advertisements may be targeted to the content of information stored on the Services, queries made through the Services or other information.
17.2 The manner, mode and extent of advertising by Google on the Services are subject to change without specific notice to you. ”
I am not very keen on Adverts on the site; it is just a small Local History Site.
Thanks again
Perhaps I should have put more space between those sentences.
Google Analytics is simply a small snippet of script that gathers statistics on your web site’s visitors. There are no advertisements with Google Analytics.
Regarding visible counters, many web hosts offer a script for that in a script archive, control panel, or other repository of little goodies. If your host does not offer that, you could add it to your page using either a server-side scripting language (PHP, ASP, Perl, SSI, etc.) if you are using that now, or JavaScript. Which one were you using before?
(Also, I’m going to move this thread to the web development forum.)
All web servers keep a detailed log of every request, and these statistics are based on an analysis of that log.
One difference with Google Analytics (or other JavaScript-based analytics) compared with logs is that logs are full of the constant background noise of bots rummaging through the site, as well as attackers seeking vulnerable software so they can take over the server. With script-based statistics collection, you mostly see human traffic.
