I can get one box around multiple paragraphs with the same formatting. Can I get one box around multiple paragraphs with different styles (say, a paragraph followed by a bulleted list)?

I’ve done this by moving the text in question into a one-cell table, but I would prefer not to do it that way because within the table I lose widow/orphan protection and the ability to keep embedded tables from breaking across pages. Unless someone has a solution to those issues instead?

I think that the boxes only stay as one box as long as the indent doesn’t change from one para to another. So if you want a bulleted list within the box, have the bullet at the margin, not indented.

Otherwise, I would have suggested a table. You can always have your table with one column but many rows if you want, and then have a single border round all of them, if that makes things easier to control.

Additionally, there is the “Allow row to break across pages” setting that can be un-checked, within a table. I believe you must select the whole table, as opposed to just placing the cursor anywhere in the table, and then find the setting at TABLE–TABLE PROPERTIES–ROW. Un-checking that “Allow row to break across pages” option will prevent cells from breaking across pages, regardless of the content of the cell, if I’m not mistaken.

Thanks. Splitting my table into multiple rows and then keeping some rows from breaking across pages will help with the embedded tables.

That still leaves me with window/orphan control, but I’m better than where I was!
