You might try updating you video drivers, AMD or Intel. That may help the situation.

Just checked, but no driver update available. It could have been a one-off.
I had been writing an email and went to switch fonts. The font list displayed all the fonts as usual, but I noticed that no matter what I chose it would only display two or three actual fonts. After canceling the message I noticed fonts everywhere looked corrupted. (Couldn’t make sense of anything on the screen.)
A magic reboot potion fixed it.

Ha! Microsoft’s done that for describing patches for years!

AskWoody MVPOctober 24, 2018 at 12:54 pm #226779Thanks for the link, so it looks like kb4462919 is the culprit.

AskWoody LoungerOctober 24, 2018 at 4:48 pm #226864I’m also anxiously awaiting Woody’s recommendation of which version of WIN 10 is best to be using now. I’m still sitting on 1607 waiting for something decent to upgrade to, but I’ve yet to see any version worth pulling the trigger on. So far they all look like swamps I’d rather avoid wading into.

AskWoody MVPOctober 24, 2018 at 1:36 pm #226805@Mr.Natural, I don’t use W10 but, having read about 90% plus of the posts on here relative to v1809, I’d agree 100%.

AskWoody PlusOctober 24, 2018 at 2:37 pm #226823Just think if one were to buy a new car, have regular scheduled maintenance done, and then still have constant problems with it – they would certainly invoke the lemon law! Too bad there isn’t a lemon law for Windows 10.

GuestOctober 25, 2018 at 12:13 am #226919Glad you were able to get yours fixed, other users find they have not much or any driver support even from the OEM. I had checked with AMD and the Windows 10 October update caused a bug which is listed as a known issue for the Radeon Overlay feature which they have to fix.
Yeah it is weird (kind of not really perhaps it is like an anonymous poster stated some months ago, which was there is a lack of development team communication at Microsoft), there are not any lines of text to document Windows 10’s video changes so folks only know something happened when the computer breaks.

AskWoody_MVPOctober 27, 2018 at 12:08 pm #227569hey woody.
I’m kinda late on this but there was this article from Softpedia News site called “Is Windows 10 Version 1809 the new Windows Vista?”
https://news.softpedia.com/news/is-windows-10-version-1809-the-new-windows-vista-523357.shtmlwow, somebody had the guts to compare the 1809 release of Windows 10 to that of the initial release of Windows Vista.
