Interesting. I had just this behavior on my well-used 1803 machine this week. No October updates, either. I did receive a Monthly targeted Office 2016 (o365 Bus. Prem.) update. The font issue was maybe a week after the update. Coincidental?

There have been reports that the font problem showed up in the Insider Feedback Hub a while back and was ignored by MS like some of the other bugs that have been reported lately.

You might try updating you video drivers, AMD or Intel. That may help the situation.

Just checked, but no driver update available. It could have been a one-off.

I had been writing an email and went to switch fonts. The font list displayed all the fonts as usual, but I noticed that no matter what I chose it would only display two or three actual fonts. After canceling the message I noticed fonts everywhere looked corrupted. (Couldn’t make sense of anything on the screen.)

A magic reboot potion fixed it.

Another failure of WaaS is that the October security update for 1803 (not sure about other versions) broke changing of file associations. This is getting ridiculous.

That would require a minimum of a 1 Gb Internet connection in order to be able to load the entire page in a timely manner.   🙂

I’m also anxiously awaiting Woody’s recommendation of which version of WIN 10 is best to be using now. I’m still sitting on 1607 waiting for something decent to upgrade to, but I’ve yet to see any version worth pulling the trigger on. So far they all look like swamps I’d rather avoid wading into.

If anyone installed 1809 I would give serious consideration to rolling back while you still can. Of course who knows what you’ll be left with after the roll back so backup your stuff first.

Just think if one were to buy a new car, have regular scheduled maintenance done, and then still have constant problems with it – they would certainly invoke the lemon law!  Too bad there isn’t a lemon law for Windows 10.

Even astrophysicist Carl Sagan when speaking astronomically used Billions, not Trillions.

Various but subtle font rendering issues have been ongoing throughout this Windows 10 farce. Do people now need to update their video drivers?

I had a issue with Chrome crashing in 1803 required a Intel GPU driver to fix it. Had similar issues with Firefox where I got warning my graphic processor had stopped working with app. Apparently something with graphic drivers all of a sudden.

Glad you were able to get yours fixed, other users find they have not much or any driver support even from the OEM. I had checked with AMD and the Windows 10 October update caused a bug which is listed as a known issue for the Radeon Overlay feature which they have to fix.

Yeah it is weird (kind of not really perhaps it is like an anonymous poster stated some months ago, which was there is a lack of development team communication at Microsoft), there are not any lines of text to document Windows 10’s video changes so folks only know something happened when the computer breaks.
