    My firewall, Zone Alarm, is constantly asking me to ‘allow’ this. Google’s definition/explanation gives me pause. I have not noticed any problems by ‘denying’ it. So should I or shouldn’t it? Thanks. jim

      Hi Jim and welcome to the Lounge!

      Do you use Yahoo mail? BrowserPlusCore.exe is supposedly a program that assists in placing of attachments in Yahoo mail. However, since you are experiencing no negative effects by blocking it, I would continue to do so until you find confirmation as to why this program wants to execute. If you are uncertain about any program or process that your firewall asks for approval or denial to execute, it is always best to deny until you confirm it to be beneficial rather than harmful.

      Some people have reported it running in Task Manager when no browser is open. There seems to be some doubt as to whether it is needed or in fact causes problems on systems.

      I do not use Yahoo mail and so have never encountered this program. Perhaps another lounger has first hand experience with it and can shed more light on it for you.

      Hi Jim :

      It seems wise to me to try and determine IF it is legitimate or malware ;
      Previous to this Post I have never referred anyone to “Yahoo Answers”,
      but the info at http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20091209155529AAs6GwN
      seems the Best Couse of Action .

      I use Yahoo Email and that “exe” is NOT in my Task Manager; however,
      I never have done an “Attachment” .

        Since this is likely a Yahoo issue, I think Yahoo Answers is an excellent resource to cite. Good answer!

      I run Malwarebytes everyday (quick scan) plus a ‘full’ scan on the weekend–and so far no problems with BrowserPlusCore.exe. Thanks for your replies. jim
