I would like to sum the values of one field in a query and display that one total in the report. Is that possible?

Sure you can.

Create the query and click on the toolbar button that looks like an ‘E’ (says Totals when you hover the mouse over it).
This will add an extra line to the query grid allowing you to group your data by field and to get totals for suitable values. Try it with your existing data and see what the different settings can do.

Save this query, then create an report based on it. Using the Auto-Report wizard is a good idea.

Have a look at the new report in design view and you’ll see how it’s been put together.
