    Hi all,

I am creating a template with multiple sections (to enable instruction text to be hidden, and ensure that users do not inadvertently start typing in the hidden text) that are alternately protected/unprotected.
It appears that I will have 30-40 sections by the time the template is ‘complete’ and it will then likely go through a series of adjustments once it is used in the wild.

My question is – can the sections be named with something more intuitive than section 1, section 2, etc.
Having names indicative of the section content will greatly assist in the long term maintenance of the template.

Thanks in advance for any comments.

One can make “bookmarks” and name those. A bookmark can be anything from a single character to a lengthy selection that might include an entire section. Bookmarks can be flaky, though. The naming convention for bookmarks don’t allow for spaces; bookmarks are normally invisible, so it can be tricky to see the boundaries to avoid overwriting them; and overlapping bookmarks can be created inadvertently.

        Thanks,

I knew of bookmarks, I was just wondering if there was a way to make the protect>forms>sections dialog a bit more intuitive than successive checkboxes marked section 1, section 2, section 3, section 4, etc
It looks like another thing for Microsoft’s to do list.

It’s a really good idea for the wishlist, but it’s not there today.

You could always create a userform that includes section names and then Protect the correct sections from VBA.

You can use BBCodes to format your content.
Your account can't use all available BBCodes, they will be stripped before saving.
