Is there any way I can lock my laptop keyboard while Skype-ing with my one year old grand-daughter she likes to play with the keys, and sometimes messes everything up.

Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it. |

AskWoody_MVPOctober 8, 2011 at 7:17 am #1301282Ok, I’m going to go out on a limb here and hope someone doesn’t have a saw.
What you might try is finding a keyboard remapper that allows you to save multiple keyboards.
You could then create a map that would direct all keys to the SHIFT key, which by itself won’t do anything.
Then also have a NORMAL map or the program may have a command to return to the standard keyboard.
Then create shortcuts on the task bar that would shift them using the mouse. What’s that sawing noise I hear…

AskWoody_MVPOctober 8, 2011 at 7:47 am #1301287Here’s one that looks like a likely candidate. Key Mapper
When setting this up I’d test it with only a couple of keys and make sure I could switch back and forth with the mouse BEFORE doing the whole keyboard.Good Luck!

AskWoody LoungerOctober 8, 2011 at 2:28 pm #1301308Thank you all for your suggestions. The key mapper thing looks a bit ambitious for me – not sure I would end up with a working computer at the end of it. I guess a good low tech solution would be to make a cardboard cover and tape it on.
I’ve already had to do something similar with my toucphad but that’s a different story – cursor jumps to arbitrary positions when I hit the touchpad accidentally, so have stuck a piece of card over it. Works well…..
