If I set the Word 97 font characteristics to “Strikethrough” any text then typed gets hyphens, —, drawn through the middle of letters. If I want to strike through just a single “e”, for example, the result isn’t particularly obvious, and I would prefer to strike though each character with a forward slash, ///.

Can anyone tell me how to do this?

And as a supplementary, is it possible to make the strikethrough characters a different colour from the text which they overlay?

    Thanks!

Go to Tools, Options and select Track Changes. Under deleted text, there are only a few other options availabel for symbols but you can also change the color. Don’t know how to get more options for symbols though.
