have just got a pc with xp home edition. I am trying to run videos from a cd which came with my digital photo magazine. They will not run. I have tried altering the security setting on internet explorer to accept active x etc., but I cannot get the apply button to activate. I have also checked the “allow active content on CDs to run” on the advanced tab.
I am logged on as a user with administrator privileges so what else do I need to do?
this CD played superbly on my old Win 2k pc and runs on my xp professional laptop.
    regards
    Roberta

If you have Service Pack 2 installed, and you launch the videos by opening a web page, you should get a warning in the Information Bar (below the address bar) and the option to allow Active Content to run from your computer. If you never see the Information Bar, you can enable it, um, somewhere… (hopefully past threads cover this!).

By the way, CDs would be considered to be originating in the My Computer zone. By default, the My Computer zone does not appear in the Security tab of the Internet Options dialog. However, one or two past threads have disclosed a small registry change you can use to make it display there. Hope this helps.

You can use BBCodes to format your content.
Your account can't use all available BBCodes, they will be stripped before saving.
