Can’t access Ext Hardrive connected to Router

Hope some when can help me with this issue that has been bugging me for sometime and which I can’t seem to resolve.

Specs
Router – Fritz 7530
Ext Hardrive – Transcend formatted to NTFS
PC – Windows 10 Pro version 21H1

Ext hardrive is connected to to the Router via USB port. Ext Hardrive is definitely connected to the router as I can access files, back-ups etc. by going in through the routers website using my browser – See attached file

What I can’t do is access the Ext Hardrive using File Explorer. Whether I double click on Fritz Box in File Explorer or try using Map Network Drive through “This PC” I always get the same message box come up “Enter Network Credentials”. I have tried every configuration of username and password I can think of but with no success. See attached file

Can anyone please advise on what Network Credentials to enter or where I may find the information I need to enter. Alternatively is there a way to disable the request for “Enter Network Credentials” and is this advisable?

Ratters, well that’s some unusual hardware! :-))

Is your local network set to Private? If not try this and see if it fixes the problem

You can also try using PowerShell to locate the drive via it’s command completion feature.
Start Powershell_ISE
Enter: GCI -Path \\Your Network name Here
At that point PowerShell should offer you options like below:

The credentials you need are the ones you set in the Fritz!Box when creating the user(s) for disk access.

Fritz!Box is not unusual in Europe. 🙂

I’ve never seen one of these obviously, but given the current vogue for ransomware and crypto mining it might be worth at least resetting the router..

This fell out top of a sensible google on the subject (which means its being searched for as sponsorship seems unlikely), and a default password of 0000 if unchanged won’t stop anything much..

Probably worth a good dig on the manufacturer pages to make sure updating firmware etc isn’t going to affect your data before you change anything, though..
