An annoyance, but maybe it’s fixable. If I edit a file, and then try to attach it to an email in Outlook 2010 the folder won’t open to show the available files. The only way around it is to open the folder in a new tab, copy the file and paste it into the ‘attachment’ box (which first has to be opened by inserting a dummy file and then deleting it before sending). Any ideas? A search on the web hasn’t produced any answers maybe because it’s too hard to explain in a few words. I can’t be the only one with this issue?

Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it. |

AskWoody LoungerOctober 16, 2012 at 8:53 am #1351933What app are you using to edit the file? Have you closed the app before trying to attach?
Are you running a real-time virus scanner or backup program?
What type of disk are you saving to? Is it local or network share? How much free space? Is the drive/folder synced?
What is your configuration (Win version, memory size, system type)? This info might be useful to those trying to address your problem.

AskWoody LoungerOctober 16, 2012 at 4:32 pm #1351966This is a problem that suddenly occurred. I noticed it first when I tried to attach a Word 2010 document that I’d just edited and saved to an email. Clicking on the folder wouldn’t open it, so I couldn’t attach it. But right clicking and opening the folder in a new window allowed me to copy the file, just not attach it because it was a new window. But I could then paste it into the ‘Attachment’ box on the email. The only files I’ve had difficulty with are Word or PDF files. Running Office 2010 on Windows 7 32-bit. I didn’t close Word before doing this. Another odd thing I’ve noticed with Word is that if I close the Document 1 file that automatically starts when Word opens, sometimes Word will lock up if I’ve got other open files. If I close all the open files I have to close Word through Task Manager. Maybe it’s a Word issue, not an Outlook one.
I run Microsoft Security Essentials real time. Local laptop hard disk is 280Gb with 25% free. Not synced.Win 7 Professional. 4Gb RAM 50% free.
