In Outlook 2003 (SP2), when selecting to create a new Mail Message or a Task or a Task Request the following error message is displayed

Are you up-to-date with MS patches? Have you tried Help | Detect and Repair?

In earlier versions of Outlook that message sometimes indicated that a folder was too full to add any more items. However, it seems unlikely that both a mail folder and a tasks folder would fill up simultaneously.

Thanks for the suggestion – I’ve now run Detect and Repair but it didn’t make any difference to this problem.

        Any other ideas gratefully received?

You could try setting up a new profile (Tools | E-mail Accounts…, Add a new e-mail account)

Now that’s interesting………. I tried Tools|E-mail Accounts and received the following error:

The operation failed due to a registry or installation problem. Restart Outlook and try again. If the problem persists please re-install.

The problem did still persist after restarting Outlook so I guess I’ll have to re-install Outlook (If I can find the CD).

Do I have to uninstall the present version first?

            Regards

            Derek

Before reinstalling, try deleting the existing e-mail accounts and creating a new one in the Mail control panel. This doesn’t start the complete Outlook application, so it might succeed even if it doesn’t work from inside Outlook.
