I’m on a single user machine. I had an account named “Phil”, an Administrator account, & guest account (never used). Just for kicks, I logged off as Phil. This brought up the Administrator account & the machine froze. I turned it off & rebooted. When I did, it went right to the Administrator account. When I went to Control Panel/User Accounts, the only thing listed was Administrator & Guest. How can I get back on the “Phil” account?
    Thanks,

Added: If I bring up a command window & type “net user”, it shows Administrator & HelpAssistant as Phil, so the account is there somewhere. I just can’t bring it up.

Never mind. Found the solution. Go to Start -> Run.
Copy and paste the following into the Open box:

      control userpasswords2

Click OK. The User Accounts dialog box comes up. Uncheck “Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer”. Then I logged off as Administrator & the logon for Phil came up. I logged on.

      Whew!

        Phil,

This sounds like you have a blank password for your Phil account.

        Phil,

Please get your kicks some other way until you become more familliar with XP !!! grin When I saw the Phil R as the poster in XP, my first thought was that you had done something to your system and were having trouble getting things right. laugh

Good to see you’re getting comfortable with the setup and trying new things though. thumbup

You can use BBCodes to format your content.
Your account can't use all available BBCodes, they will be stripped before saving.
