Can’t select a vertical block of text in Word 2013.

I have Word 2010 and Word 2013 on the same computer, and have never had a problem with the operation of either program till now.

I can use “Alt + ‘left click’ + drag” to select a vertical block of text in Word 2010. But I can’t do so in Word 2013 on the exact same computer using the exact same mouse and keyboard.

I have no problem selecting a vertical block of text in Word 2010. It works like a charm.

I used the same wireless keyboard and wireless mouse, and verified this six different ways. I also tried using another wireless mouse with the exact same result.

I know I need to select more than one column.

In Word 2013, it looks like I the program is unsuccessfuly trying to select mulitiple horizontal lines. Horizontal lines become highlighted and not highlighted at a very rapid rate.

I don’t own a wired keyboard or mouse. If I am able to obtain them, I will try that as a possible solution.

I am an expert on Word 2013. I can probably answer any question, even questions other experts can’t answer.

I would like to find one or two, true experts on Word 2013. I would also like to find one or two first-rate graphic design artists.

Alt + Drag over text works for me in Word 2013 so there could be something else going on in your document. You do say you need to select more than one column – This sounds like you are trying to select a table column but alt drag hasn’t worked over tables for several versions now. If you can get Alt+drag to work over a table in Word 2010 then perhaps we are talking about different things.

In Word 2010 and 2013, one way to select table columms is by positioning your cursor on the top edge of the table until you see the cursor change to a down arrow and then left clicking (and dragging).

What do you need Word experts and Graphic artists for? Do you have paid work for us or is this a general question.

Alt + Drag over text works for everyone. It also worked for me. Now it is not working for me in Word 2013, even though it still works for me in Word 2010. This is happening in every Word 2013 document I have. I was not talking about tables. I meant a vetical block or vertical column of random text.

I need a way to troubleshoot the problem I am having.

I have a paid project or a profitable project in mind.

If you open a document in Safe Mode does the Alt+Drag work for you in Word 2013?

Maybe other service keys such as Alt+Shift or Ctrl can help? I spent many time trying to locate this function on my Mac & Word 2011…
