Can't Uninstall Adobe Reader

I continue to have some weird problems. For some reason neither IE9 or Firefox don’t seem to be able to bring up Adobe Reader although I have it installed. So I updated Adobe, but that didn’t help. Next I decided to uninstall Adobe Reader and reinstall the latest version. However, on attempting to uninstall I get the Example2 pop up. This error message has occurred before under different circumstances, but I’ve never been able to resolve the problem. Furthermore, I have searched the entire computer and the registry looking for “Chucks Data” and can find no reference to it. So how does the computer find that Path and why won’t it work?

Also, I often get the Example1 pop up when, say, attempting to save a file. Sometimes I can click on Continue and am able to proceed. Other times it blocks me from proceeding. In the latest case I was using Save As from the IrfanView program (to save Example1) and I got this message and had to clock on Continue to proceed. I get the feeling that W7 has some default setup that goes to Harddrive5DR5 (whatever that is). I need to get rid of it.

Hello… Adobe reader is a pain sometimes … and i get error messages sometimes trying to update or re-install ( been playing with Foxit reader ) The easiest way is to uninstall it and do a clean install …sometimes this works without having to “take ownership ” of a “Zillion” folders first. You can find the reference that you mention by downloading and running this free search utility… http://www.voidtools.com/ Just configure it to only search your C: drive ….or it will search every HD on your PC. Type in whatever your looking for, ( Adobe Reader, Chucks Data etc. ) You will probably find some “leftovers” from the un-install. By the right clicking on the results you can delete them … Sometimes you will need “unlocker” v-1.9 ( free ) to do ( finish em off ) the job. Regards Fred

Just FYI, Adobe Reader actually disappeared off my computer the other day; I tried installing another copy but got error messages over and over again. Can’t uninstall because it’s not there! In the end I went and got Foxit Reader. I won’t bother with Adobe Reader again. Foxit is fast, and seems to have no contra-indications. Sometimes I wonder why we bother with Adobe; so many problems…..

I finally managed to uninstall Adobe Reader, but it was really tricky. I temporarily created a new Administrator account. Logged out of the old one, logged into the new one, used the usual control panel uninstall routine and it worked without a hitch. My conclusion is that there is something very wrong with my main administrator account as it keeps coming up with the Error 1324 message. So my next quest is how to fix that problem, as it is awkward to have to switch admin accounts to avoid such errors.
