    Hi

Suddenly, I can’t view source. Nothing happens; no message.

I’ve check the Microsoft Knowledge Base, and can’t find anything relevant. (For example, I have a valid TEMP setting, and I have Notepad installed.)

I’ve also tried reselecting my Editor (InternetOptions|Programs|HTMLeditor). A bit strange. There were three entries, as follows:
    AceHTML4 Freeware
    Notepad
    Notepad (yes, a second entry)

I’ve tried selecting various ones, to no avail. When I selected “AceHTML4 Freeware”, an extra option got added to the list (“AceHTML4 Freeware Executable”).

    Any ideas?
    Dale

I’ve been bugged with this for months too, I suspect ever since I installed NS . . . or FP . . thinks .

However, I think I’ve got close to the problem:

      I found, through:
Explorer | Tools | Folder Options | File Types
then selecting ‘HTML’, clicking Advanced, selecting ‘Edit’ then clicking Edit, the chosen program was:
      “D:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOfficemsohtmed.exe” %1
Using Browse, I selected notepad.exe instead – but no-go. The change would not stick.

I navigated to find this ‘MSOHTMED.EXE’, and double-clicked it. Nothing.
      So I renamed it ‘xMSOHTMED.EXE’

I can now view source from a right click in IE.

      But:

When opening FrontPage, I get a ‘Preparing to install’ window.
Cancelled that, went back and renamed ‘xMSOHTMED.EXE’ back to ‘MSOHTMED.EXE’

Now FP starts without grumbling and I can view source in Notepad.
      And it’s survived a re-boot!

      Gotta be worth a try.
