Changing DropBox ownership via Explorer?

Hi,
our local sports club holds a central repository of shared documents in something called ‘Drop Box’ which works well for our limited needs.

The person who set up the DropBox folders originally is moving and wants to pass ownership to me, so that she can unshare and get back her Dropbox space. She has suggested that I set up a new Dropbox with myself as owner and copy all of the files and folders across using Explorer.

Is there a simpler method of achieving the same outcome, such as simply changing the ‘Ownership’ of the top level folder in DropBox?
I’m worried that if I copy the files between Dropbox folders that I will have to reinvite each of the other users of the folders to have access and that I will possibly run out of space during the copying process.

All advice appreciated.

Sounds like she wants to keep her setup and just have the relevant Folders/files moved in which case I think the safest would be to Copy to your Dropbox then Delete from hers. Such a change would require the reinvite of members. Such changes are always going to be an issue for groups whenever the officers or managers are changed. The only true solution would be to Register a Domain name then find a Hosting Service but it may not be cheap enough for the group to maintain.

You will then have ownership control of all current and future member shares and she can resign her membership.
But beware – you must have sufficient Dropbox space for both yourself and all the shared files.
Also – belt & braces – it’s always wise to take a local backup of the shared files once you’ve got ownership, and before she resigns from the share, until you’re sure everything has worked ok.

As Berton says, another solution might be to host the files on the Sports Club website, assuming it has one. But then you’d have to set up privacy/password access and couldn’t control access if a stranger got hold of the password.
