This definitiley falls under the heading of fussy aesthetic annoyances. I generally have the View pane open in most of my numerous INBOX subfolders. When the last email is deleted or moved to a storage folder, the resulting empty pane displays the most horrid, depressing shade og gray imaginable. [See attachment].

Is there any way to change this colour?

    Thanks,
    Michael

Is it the same color as the “work area” in Word after you’ve closed the last document? I think there’s a setting for that in Windows’ display settings, but it might affect a lot of other areas… no time to experiment to today, but if you find it, I’d be interested in hearing about the results.

That is the “Application background” color that can be set in the Appearance tab of the Display Properties control panel (in Windows XP, you have to click Advanced to edit it).

Obviously one must choose carefully to avoid being blinded by large areas of bright color. laugh

Some of my colleagues at work have far more garish color schemes. I always wonder how they are able to look at a screen decked out like a carnival attraction all day…
