Can anyone tell me how (or if it is possible) to change the “machine number” of my pc. I’m guessing it might be a registry edit – but i don’t really know where to start
thanks

Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it. |

AskWoody LoungerMay 22, 2001 at 7:43 pm #1783695You may be alble to download a SID changer. This is what you’re looking to do I think.
It is a registry edit, but the machine number is kept in about 25-50 places in the registry. A SID changer will effect a change of the system number, but it will be a randomized change. This generally only applies to Windows NT, where the SID is part of an image and must be changed.
Try doing a http://www.dogpile.com>search“">http://www.dogpile.com[/url%5D. You may be able to find one there.
