I have a word document which changes from portrait to landscape and then back to portrait. I inserted a page break and selected Page Setup – Portrait – from this page forward, I get the following error….”the settings you chose for the left and right margins…..are to large for the page width in some sections”. I am not allowed to change the document back to portrait.

First, to change from portrait to landscape & back again, you need a next page section break, not a page break. Try going to each section & setting the margins for that section only. If you continue to have problems, zip & attach the document to a post.
      Hope this helps.

Please find attached my word document. I have removed almost everything from the document to make it small enough to send and I still cannot change the orientation of the last page.

        Thank you.

The last section layout seems to have become corrupt. Try the following: select everything in the document except for the last paragraph marker (for instance by typing Ctrl+A, then Shift+left arrow). Copy to the clipboard (Ctrl+C), then create a blank new document (Ctrl+N) and paste (Ctrl+V). The last page should be portrait now; you may have to modify the page layout settings (margins etc.)

Actually, I don’t think it is corrupt – it’s just got confused. It thinks you have a column setting in there. If, in that section, you go to Format, Column and click on the ‘one column’ button (I know, it looks like that’s what’s there, just try it!) and click OK, you should find you are then able to change it to Portrait.

At least, it let me when I did it!

I believe the attached is fixed, however, I can not tell you specifically what was wrong. I believe a combination of things. First keep with next was selected for the picture – I clicked that off. Next, I believe there was a border somehow attributed to the 3rd page – I clicked it on and off then adjusted the margins. Also, same as previous was called for in the header and I clicked that off. I also cropped the picture to allow the section break to appear on the same page. Hope this helps.
