This actually refers to any email app including Outlook, but as I use Tbird most I put it here.
Many moons ago when setting up my email I used the displayed name ‘Me’. I’ve now changed it to something more suitable, but that string ‘Me’ still keeps popping up as my displayed name. I can’t find it set anywhere. Does anyone have a clue where it’s being generated so I can change it please?

Tools > Account Settings > Your name.
Having said that, TB shows you as “Me” in incoming mail to make it easy to identify the address used to send mail to you. Your recipients will see the mail with the name you set in Account Settings.

On all of my emails, ‘Your name’ is set to my name not ‘Me’, so that’s not the problem. As I said, I’ve looked everywhere. I’m told that my emails have Me as the name when I send them, and emails sent to me have that string as well.

I just tested the method described by Paul and it worked for me.

View the headers of an email you sent. Select a sent email, More > View Source. This will show you what email address your system is using. Mine does this.

I looked at the source as advised by Paul and it shows my name as I would expect. But it still shows ‘me’ in Tbird, Outlook 2016, and on each emails’ web site. I emailed a friend and it would appear that my name appears most of the time, but not when the email was sent from my phone. that might be because the ‘Your name’ field was blank. I’ve yet to try from my tablet but as Yahoo are currently having a hissy fit about non Yahoo email apps, it’s refusing to sync (again). It will eventually work but until it does I can’t send or receive.
I think we’ve done this to death – and it appears that ‘me’ isn’t being sent to others so I’ll just live with it. Thanks for all your suggestions.
