      On one system, I log into the local Windows admin account by default because I had set up the system to remember the password, which I’ve since forgotten. I don’t have Windows email account or hints. Although I can’t recover that password, can I change it (without knowing it) as follows–or any other ideas you may have?

      System also has an additional local “Account2” with password which I know; it is Standard.
      Could I change Account2 type to Admin; then log into Account2;
      and then change password of Account1, even though I don’t know current password of Account1?

      Open a Run box and enter “control” (no quotes).

      This will open Control Panel.

      Click on Administrative Tools.

      Double-click on Computer Management.

      Expand Local Users and Groups.

      Click on Users.

      Right-click on any user and select Set Password.
