I have two separate workbooks (files). Each has over 5,000 entries. I believe there are duplicates in the workbooks. How can I compare two different files in Excel to see if there are duplicates? I’m not a programmer and don’t really know Access. It would be helpful to keep the files in Excel. I need to do a mail merge with both, but don’t want to send the contacts the same info twice.
    Thanks for your help.

I tried the download for Compare and it didn’t seem to do anything. Could it be it doesn’t work on Excel 2003? The page only discusses up to Excel 97. Or am I missing something?

Did you download the ZIP file?
          Unzip it to a directory?
Did you open XL and load the addin (tools – addins – browse (find the file and select it)?
DId you then run the comparison (tools – compare worksheets) select worksheet 1 and worksheet 2, and set the options?

          What problems did you encounter?

Obviously I needed to do a few extra steps! Thank you for your help. It is working now.

In addition to Legare’s link, you could combine the 2 together in 1 worksheet.

With Advanced filter (data – filter – advanced filter) to you create a copy of the unique entries.
