Lately, when opening Chrome, it hangs. The little circle keeps going round and round and the page remains blank. If I close it and try again it loads on the second or third attempt. In fact, it’s doing it right now. My start page (a news website) is still “Loading”, so clicked on New Tab, typed in windowssecrets.com/forums and came here to the forum with no problem.

The problem occurs when launching Chrome directly from the quick launch area of the taskbar. And, it also occurs when launching it a different way, namely by clicking on the Inbox link in my instant messenger which should load my email website. So, Chrome can be launched from two different sources/locations to load different pages and it hangs in both cases.

I ran CCleaner a few minutes ago to no avail.

Any suggestions on how to overcome this annoying little problem, please?

      Hi,

My name is Deepa and I work for the Social Media and Community Team at Dell. First of all, I would like to suggest you to please reset the home page and this time please select a different homepage. I would suggest you one more step to uninstall the Chrome and reinstall it back again. You can refer to this link for reinstalling the Google Chrome :-

Apparently this has been a common problem with Chrome for the past few months. It may have to do with a bug in the recent builds of Chrome and the only way around it that I have found is to click inside the address bar and then hit enter.

A Google search for “Chrome home page not working” will bring up several discussions of the problem but there is no common cure as of today. Hopefully Google is working on a fix in the next build of Chrome.

Thanks for your suggestions and comments DELL_deepa and Don92130.

I tried setting a new and different home page. It worked once or twice, but when I booted up the computer this morning the problem was there again.

Have uninstalled Chrome for now and will use Internet Exploder for a while. Chrome will have another “new” version in a few weeks and maybe that will work better!
