    Is there any way when I create a desktop shortcut for a web page to have it show the web page’s icon instead of the generic chrome icon?

    That would make shortcuts easier to identify, at least for the visually challenged!

      Not that I know, but you can give each icon a title

      You can’t to the desktop thing, but as a substitute, you can organize your browsers bookmarks as in my screenshot below.  On most of my bookmarks, I’ve deleted the name of the bookmark  (right click and “edit”).  With no name you just see the website icon.

      Install the site as an app from within the browser. You should get options to create a desktop shortcut, pin to the task bar, or pin to the start menu.
