Search and it will ask you to clear the cookies.

Try turning off Enhanced Protection / turn on Standard Protection, turning on Privacy Sandbox trial and turn on FLoC. Allow scripting in Chrome, refresh the page and give it a few minutes to run in the background.

Get the details from the ChromeBook post:

First I run a page linking to YouTube such as the ChromeBook post above.
(alternative the current Tips for the Weekend:

Click the YouTube link and YouTube should work

Having the same problem with google.com; my solution there, is to use Chromium.

So this is in Chrome?  This is one of the reasons I like to have multiple browsers and then one is “loosey goosey” another is tweaked more.

Chrome is the only browser with this problem. Chromium with Enhanced Protection and Secure DNS works on YouTube (except Live Caption doesn’t work). Chromium does not have Privacy Sandbox trial and FLoC.

The only feature I use Chrome for, is Live Caption. Although Chromium has it, it does not work.

Firefox works on YouTube but does not have a feature like Live Caption. Closed Caption on the YouTube site does work, on each browser. Chrome Live Caption is better than the YouTube Closed Caption. Another plus for Chrome Live Caption is it works for most steaming content like talks and Zoom sessions. The only exceptions I had was YouTube, until I figured out the work-around.

google.com needs a different browser to work around but I have no need for transcription of the content.

Of course Chrome Live Caption is imperfect like any transcription but most of it is right.

Update about Chromium: I got a current stable version of Chromium and got the same YouTube problem. The good news is the same solution also works.

This is one of the reasons I like to have multiple browsers and then one is “loosey goosey” another is tweaked more.

I second that, and have four browsers on my machine.  Firefox is my default browser, but I can go easily to one of the others using the Firefox extension OpenWith, which I recommend.  It is a bit of a pain to install as you have run a short Python script (which is right at the edge of my competence), but once done, it’s fine.

does not the xpi just install?

Just because you don't know where you are going doesn't mean any road will get you there.

I am not familiar with XPI so I did a search; it says “Cross-Platform Install (or XPInstall)”, a Firefox Extension whereas I am on Chrome/Chromium.

I am using Incognito Chrome, no extensions.

      FWIW, a picture.

      It is frustrating.

Alternate way: turn on Chrome scripting, visit Google properties like google.com. gmail.com and Google Maps for a while so they can collect information about you. With enough scripting on, they eventually let you onto the YouTube web site. The easy way seems to be: use another browser.

My conclusion: Google wants Enhanced Protection off, Secure DNS off and Privacy Trials on with FLoC on.

They want a certain amount of information about you, before letting you into YouTube.

Currently YouTube is working again on Chrome. Perhaps it has to do with the FLoC removal.
