I have a weird problem that started a few days ago. Whenever I capture something to the clipboard, (Ctrl-C) when I paste it in a text box or email, it constantly repeats inserting it. It won’t stop. I have to go into Settings>System>Clipboard and clear the clipboard all the time.

Now, when I right-click an image on my OneDrive and copy it, when I go to paste it into an email, it will paste the description of the photo, not the photo itself and does this repeatedly, without me pressing any paste buttons (Ctrl-V).

I have no idea what triggered this or how to stop it. It is most annoying. I ran sfc /scannow and the DSIM commands. Still does it. I tried installing a clipboard manager; didn’t make a difference, so I uninstalled that.

Any help or solutions would be appreciated. Thank you.

The lines above are an example of what happens. I copied to the clipboard from System>About the information. The only way to stop the constant repetitive insertion is to clear the clipboad. Then it stops.

On the same page where the button is to clear the Clipboard’s contents, there should also be a “slider” switch to turn on or off the Clipboard’s history. Is that “switch” on or off? If it’s on, try turning it off and see what happens.

Turning the history off will mean that you can only have one thing at a time in the clipboard. If you have one thing already stored in the clipboard and then hit copy (or Control C I think it is), you will erase what was there and replace it with what you just copied there.

Are you using the keyboard shortcuts to copy/paste? If so, try the procedure I use, described below.

When I copy to and paste from the clipboard, I don’t use the keyboard shortcuts at all, but instead use the right click menu after highlighting what I want copied and then clicking in the place I want the clipboard’s contents pasted. So, in a nutshell, highlight text and right click next to it selecting the “Copy” option. Now select a location you’d like to paste the text into and right click in that space, selecting the “Paste” option. Try that and see if the same repeated pasting happens.

This may be due to the repeat delay and rate for the keyboard keys is set to short/fast that the system sees the copy and pasting as quick separate entries.
      Easy to test and see.

Open a Run box (WinKey +R), enter control keyboard and press the Enter key. This will open the Keyboard Properties to the Speed tab. Note the current setting for Repeat delay and Repeat rate. Move settings to the Long for Repeat delay and Slow for Repeat rate. Click Apply and OK. Not sure if a reboot is necessary.

If that doesn’t fix the problem, you may have to use the Filter keys options.

The only way to stop the constant repetitive insertion is to clear the clipboad. Then it stops.

Albeit an over simplified approach, trying this may help reveal the your issue:

Instead of using Ctrl+v to paste, try Win+v.  Using Win+v will pop up the clip board manager.  Then use the down arrow key (not a mouse click) to select the contents you want to paste, then press enter.

If the constant repetitive insertion issue does not occur it at least would provide a modicum of clarity.

If you have Microsoft PowerToys installed and Advanced Paste enabled try disabling it. If you have an other third party tools that interface with the Clipboard try disabling or uninstalling.
