I have been using a clipboard extender for several years that I thought was just great, but found this one the other day that is much better. There is a built in utility that cleans up text much like “Text Soap”. It is called “ClipCache Plus”. There is a trial (30 day) version available to try it out.

      Hi Pilgrim:

I’m curious as to what you were using. I’ve been using Smartboard for years. It does have the problem of sometimes causing Word to crash when using “cut” (you have to use “copy”). Do you know how either of your programs compares to Smartboard?

      Thanks in advance.

        Phil,

I had been using a program called, “ClipTrakker”. It was efficent enough and had an “quick paste” feature like “ClipCache Plus” which I have now converted over to using. I’m not familiar with “Smartboard”, so I can’t tell you how either of these compare with it.

After reading of your problem with the “cut” in Word, I opened a document in my Word 2000 and tried “ClipCache Plus” and used the instant paste feature. What this is amounts to right clicking the “ClipCache Plus” icon which resides in the system tray and choosing from the list of items there (it obviously doesn’t show all saved items), and it immediately is pasted into whatever open document, page, etc. you are working with. No crash, freeze or whatever. It worked like a charm.

What I would recommend is to download the program and give it a try. There is a 30 day time limit, but that should be sufficient to make an evaluation.

Thanks, Jeff. I’ll give it a try. By the way, I never had problems pasting with Smartboard, only cutting, only in Word, & only sometimes. I’m still kind of partial to it as it allows it’s features from both a context menu & the keyboard. I’m very partial toward using keyboard only items.

            Phil,

ClipCache Plus has plenty of keyboard shortcuts. Since I’m not familiar with the program you are currently using, I can’t say how they will compare. Let me know what you think of ClipCache after you run it through the paces… hehe

        Hi Phil

I dont know smartboard either, I’ve been using Yankee Clipper (freeware) and happy with it. Monitors the clipboard, select your clip and one click (or key) to paste it to your chosen app (gives you a 3-5 sec delay to activate the other window). Multiple boilerplate collections, easy to use. http://www.yankee-clipper.net/

Thanks for all your help on these boards!

        Dave
