When my wife closes out Outlook, she gets the apologetic message that there was an Error and Outlook needs to close down. What the error reads is attached. I hope this is enough to help

Unfortunately, that sort of information is only of use to people who know what it means. laugh

Let’s do a test. First, open Outlook and wait for it to check the integrity of the PST, assuming it wants to do that after recovering from a crash. Then immediately close the program. Does it close correctly?

If that works, try closing it every half hour and, when at some point it crashes, note what was different about that time period. For example, anything about running a macro, using an add-in, types of attachments launched, etc., could be a clue.

Thank you for trying to help solve this pain. The error message happens everytime that Outlook is opened AND then closed without doing anything in the way of opening or sending email. Outlook doesn’t crash during use and works fine until it’s closed . Maybe the new attachment will help.

I’m thinking that Outlook might be customized in some way, either with an add-in or a companion program that is accessing the PST file. Can you check the Add-ins and COM Add-ins lists and see what’s there? These probably can be found under Tools>Options…, Other, Advanced Options…

The only things in Add In were McAfee V[irus Scan, Net Folders and Fax extensions and they were checked (whatever that means) and nothing in COM- addins and the problem still exists.

You could try turning off the McAfee add-in and see if that helps, but obviously that isn’t a long term solution…
