I was wondering if there was a utility to compare source code side by side with changes highlighted. I have been developing applications for work at home and would be nice if I could identify the changes made in each file when migrating the code to our production system.

This is the kind of thing that can be done by most text editors. Two possibilities are TextPad and EditPad Pro. Loungers may also identify others.

If you use Visual Source Safe from Microsoft, one of its capabilities is to compare objects side by side, including the code with highlights for changed, inserted and deleted code, and it will allow you compare versions of the same object as well.

After you have exported the code in *.bas files, you can also use Word’s “Tools > Track changes > Compare documents”.
Word2003 will also have a new feature to compare documents side by side.

As Charlotte says, Sourcesafe has some excellent facilities for comparing source. You can also pin released versions & all sorts of funky stuff – definitely recommend this, it’s made tracking releases so much easier.
