Does any one have some code that I can call or put on a button that would index a table? Thanks.

What do you mean by “index a table”? We used to apply indexes like mustard plasters in dBase, but Access doesn’t work that way.

Are you talking about creating indexes on a table? If so, that is something you do once in design view of the table. Or are you talking about sorting a table, or what?

Sorry to be so vague Charlotte. I mean sorting a table. I’m importing a text file into a new access table and I would like to see if I can find some code to index or sort that table.

Are you trying to control the order the records append in? If so, you can’t, at least not without doing something exotic with recordsets, and there’s no point anyhow since record order is meaningless in a relational database. You *can* create indexes from code, but all they do is speed up finds on a particular field. What exactly do you want to do and to what purpose are you trying to sort the data?
