How can I add a comment to an UNLOCKED cell in a PROTECTED worksheet ?
If this is a matter of how the protection is set up, which of the many categories do comments come under ?
Thanks

Did you remember to unprotect the Cell?
I just tried the following test.
- New Workbook
- Through Cell Formatting unprotect cell F5
- Protect Sheet.
- Right click F5
- Select new Comment
- Enter Comment
- Save
- Click on cell to view comment
Note: I ran a second test with the Workbook also protected with the same result.

AskWoody MVPNovember 12, 2021 at 5:26 am #2401186To capture right click dialogues etc, click on the down arrow to the right of new. select a suitable delay, 3 seconds is normally fine, then right-click to get the menu. When it greys out and the cross appears to select what you want to snip, tooltips etc will still be there. I use it all the time!

I just ran a test with Office 365 Excel and if I check “Edit Objects” I can add a comment to ANY cell protected or not on a Protected Sheet.
Unfortunately, I no longer have Office 2010 (just deleted it recently, drat!) to test. If I were you I’d double check that you haven’t enabled comments on protected cells also.
