Hey Susan, I’m a fellow CPA, and I’m sysadmin for a WinServer2019 domain with 17 workstations. Since I’m not pulling out what’s left of my hair trying to get 1040s out the door in 2 weeks, I’m looking over my Win10 updating situation. I’ve got things deferred as outlined in an old AskWoody Plus article from September 2019 (Considerationsย  Migrating from Win7 to Win10 #16.32.0), and revisited in your great article in the AskWoody Plus Newsletter Issue #17.9.0 – 2020-03-02. One thing that I’ve not been able to find is clear instructions on how to install Win10 updates when it’s time to install them. Do I release all the deferral GPOs and let the workstations all update automatically, or is there a more structured way it should be accomplished?ย  Thanks for you help through the many years.

As you are running GPOs you could split them into groups of 3 and update one group at a time. You don’t want all 17 to have even minor issues at the same time, especially with the current movement restrictions.

      cheers, Paul

Susan – please could you consider using yyyy-mm-dd dates ‘for the avoidance of confusion’ in those countries which use different (and arguably, more logical!) date formats!ย  Thanx!

Plethora means a lot to me.
