I would like to compare and merge 2 different Excel Workbooks. Under the Tools Menu, the “Compare and Merge workbooks” option is disabled. Does this need to be installed separately?

The option to Compare and Merge Workbooks is only available for shared workbooks. In my opinion, sharing a workbook is a buggy feature of Excel, it increases the probability that the workbook becomes corrupt, so I don’t recommend using it.

Chip Pearson has an addin to compare notebooks on his site (Whats New?) that you may fine useful for comparing them.

Merging is such a broad topic you would have to be more specific on what you mean by “merging” and how you want to combine them.

Thanks Steve and Hans. I basically want to show all the differences between the 2 worksheets (like Word’s Compare and Merge Feature”). Word shows what has been inserted, and what has been deleted.
