My database grows very big. How could i enter a code that compresses the database on exit ? Is it possible to revert to the original zize of the file ?

You can do that by going into the database you want to compact, then choose Tools/Options/General and tick the Compact on Close.

I am fairly certain that this is in Access 2000.

Thank you for the reply. Yes, it works excellent! How could i also compact the back end database, and also in the same time carry out a repair ?

You can set Compact on Close in the backend database. If multiple users have the backend open, it will be compacted when the list user exits it (by closing the frontend).

A compact is always a compact AND repair, there is no separate repair option.

I don't think this is true. It didn't happen in tests I ran.

Oops, you’re correct. My memory must be going, for I made the same mistake 6 months ago (see Post: 665,630]) blush

              >>My memory must be going<<

Well, mine isn't a whole lot better. I still had to test it to make sure I remembered correctly!

Drat! I am just in the process of upgrading a major app from A97 to A2003. When I saw this post I thought it was going to provide a really cool additional benefit of the upgrade. Now you burst that balloon. Oh well — easy come, easy go.
              bummer
