I am trying to help my friend who has a problem with his Dell computer. He has had the computer for a number of months. Recently, the computer has developed an annoying constant, continuous machine gun-like clicking sound when one goes to a new website. The same sound is heard when one plays a song with WMP.
The sound is the Windows NavigationStartnew.wav
Control Panel>Sounds>
Hit drop-down arrow
Windows NavigationStartnew.wav
The temporary cure is to remove the speaker plug from the back of computer and reconnect it. However, when the computer is re-booted, the continuous clicking sound begins again. Dell has already replaced the motherboard. My guess is that it is hardware-related, but I could be wrong. Any suggestions?
Thank you very much.
