I have a friend whose older Acer Aspire 5750 laptop emits a series of continuous single beeps for about 15+ seconds until Windows 10 finally boots. Specifications are: legacy mbr BIOS, Intel core i3 2.2GHz CPU, 5.75 Gb RAM,500Gb HDD.
I have tried Windows repair utilities – sfc /scannow, Dism commands, and startup repair, to no avail. Also checked HDD health with Spinrite which reported no faulty sectors. My conclusion is that Windows 10 doesn’t like the laptop’s BIOS, unless there is some fault with the hdd that I haven’t been able to detect.
NB: I have yet to create a windows 10 installation USB with Rufus, which I’m told, produces a version which’ll install properly on a machine with a legacy BIOS.
Any further suggestions/comments will be greatly appreciated.

Do a Search for [ beep codes for acer aspire ] (or similar wording).

One hit is this, which I understand to implicate the CMOS battery. Given that the computer is older, this may be something to check.

Another link, but may be too generic to be of help.

This is typical codes for ACER

If it is Continuous one long beep, it might be an issue with RAM. Check with memtest64, ( typical needs to run at least 8-10 hours to detect errors in RAM, unless you get luck and it finds it in the first few minutes).  If you have another RAM of the same type, replace and see if beeps goes away. If there are two RAM stick, remove one and see if the beep goes away. If there is only 1 RAM stick, than hopefully memtest64 will detect the error.

If it’s just an insane continuous bleeping, disconnect the keyboard and see if it goes away (ruling out a stuck key). Not all keys produce anything Windows will react to, but the BIOS bleeps every time the buffer overflows until Windows loads and takes the keystrokes.. It’s usua;;y a case for googling which screws and some gentle prying to get in, look to instructions to replace the keyboard for hints..
