I recently read an article in the Ask Woody Newsletter Issue 16.39.0 by the Patch Lady concerning the gpedit method of blocking feature updates. Upon investigating this, it seems to work the same as using the “old” wushowhide and Windows Update>Advanced Options>Choose when updates are installed>Semi Annual Channel>365 days setting. Are there any differences in the results of these two methods? I’m a singe PC user.

    Thanks!

Using wushowhide, you have to manually hide the updates. By setting Group Policy, it is done automatically.
The settings discussed here were done with the pulldowns in the GUI under Windows Updates\Advanced Settings. But you can make the same settings using Group Policy.

OK. So it sounds like the results are the same, except for having to hide unwanted updates manually using wushowhide. So, I think I’ll stick with that method as I am somewhat comfortable with it.

      Thanks,
