Once again I am posting in search of another lonely soul out there who has done some VBA conversion to Word for the Mac.

I have a complex suite of templates. When I open them in Word for the Mac the project is seen as locked. I have made sure the template is saved without a password. I’m bewildered.

It’s also odd that the VBE doesn’t allow you to import text files, so I can’t even save the templates as bas and frm files and drop into a blank template.

    Help.

How do people do cross platform applications?

I think Mac people might prefer to use RealBasic (e.g., http://www.realsoftware.com/users/producti…ficeautomation/%5B/url%5D). Microsoft actually included a demo on the Office 2004 CD. But this doesn’t really help with template-style solutions…

I’m planning on looking into Real BASIC. I’m not sure what the advantage would be…

In any case, I hit upon the solution.

It doesn’t matter if the project has been “unlocked,” or even if the password has been removed entirely from the properties dialog. If the template has EVER been locked, then it will read as locked to MacWord.

The solution is to use organizer to copy all modules styles toolbars autotext to a BLANK template and save if (on the PC) and then copy to the Mac and open.

        Weird, but true.
