Was getting suspicious about a particular hard drive so tried to Ghost it. Process failed part way through. Machine restarted OK and ran for 1 day. Next day, could not read hard drive at all. I have replaced hard drive and “restored” from the ghost image. Got all excited when the documents and spreadsheets I was looking for were now on the new hard drive but when I try to open them, I just get gobbledygook (sp). Excel will not even open the files (tells me it is an unrecognized format) and Word opens it but the data is unreadable. Files were (I think) originally created in Office 97 and I am trying to open them in Office 2000. Files that were not stored on the dead hard drive open fine
Any suggestions
I have attached one of the files in case it gives any clues. Note the girl who typed these is a real loose canon with computers and may have used wierd fonts or layouts
TIA
Steve
