The default calendar in Project defines the working day as being 08:00-12:00 and 13:00-17:00. I want to create a new base calendar that has the working day as 08:30-12:30 and 13:30-17:30 plus a set of local public holidays. I want this base calendar to be available to all Project files.

I can set the above hours to be the default on the Tools/Options menu, but they do not become the default values in the base calendar. If I create a new base calendar from Tools/Change Working Time it still sees the default hours as 08:00-12:00 and 13:00-17:00. I can highlight Mon-Fri and change the working hours for all those days, but then all my working days are shaded to indicate that they have edited working hours and the day names (M, T, W, Th, F) are underlined to indicate that there are edits to that day of the week. This also means that I can no longer identify days that differ from _my_ (new) default working hours.

Furthermore, the base calendar I create is not available when I open a new Project file.

Is what I want to do possible??

      Robin,

To make a newly created Base Calendar available for all projects you will need to use the organizer to copy the calendar to the Global template (Global.mpt) file. See below:

      -Go to Tools / Organizer
-Select Calendar Tab (Active file calendars are shown on the right, global.mpt calendars on the left)
      – Choose the global calendar you modifed and want to make available to all projects from the right side
      – Press Copy Button to move the new calendar to the Global.mpt area
      – Close the organizer

You can also use the organizer to copy the new global calendar directly to other projects.
